Fresh Harvested Pink Earth Lichen from Maine

The day your order arrives...open up your package and feel the big smile that spreads across your face just by looking at these cute little lichen.

You will receive a 2oz lidded cup containing 1 or 2 sections of Pink Earth Lichen (also aptly called "Candy Lichen") nestled in extra soil for protection during transit. Each piece guaranteed to be beautiful and one of a kind.

Small and adorable, they will arrive sprouting from a section of the sandy/clay like earth of which they are so fond.

We love hunting for these little guys. Harvested in small batches, it takes a keen eye to spot these in the wild. Typically found in the hidden corners of the forest. Hunting for lichen is like treasure hunting. They might be hidden at the base of an old fallen tree, under some leaves or on the slope of a rocky hill. Finding them always feels like finding buried treasure.

Pink Earth Lichen (Dibaeis baeomyces) is a fructose lichen and belongs to the family of Icmadophilaceae

Lichen have been around for more than 400 million years and are truly fascinating. Simultaneously an algae AND a fungi, they are uniquely adapted to surviving harsh conditions.

The lichen you receive will be attached to the substrate on which it was found. These are ready to use and you only need to "place" them in or on the soil, rocks or substrate of your choice- or even left in the container it arrives in. They do fine in full sun or partial. Guaranteed to bring an awesome splash of color to any project.

They don't need watering very frequently, but when you do water them, the color really pops!
